Annual ELG conference in Budapest

The annual meeting of the European Law Group was held in Budapest on 20th and 21th April. The delegates were coming from French, Belgian, Israeli, Italian, Spanish, English, German, Maltese, Austrian, Danish, and Swedish law firms, basically from all over Europe. Based on the rotating system of the ELG annual conferences, this year the hosting firm was the Nógrádi Law Office.

The main topics of the Conference included the question of politics and economic after the general elections in Hungary and the impacts of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU on the data protection of natural persons. The data protection from 25th May shall be in the focus of the participants of both the private and the public sector, as the rules of the personal data process will change significantly from the abovementioned date. This means dramatically new expectations towards the business community and all the state organizations processing personal data, hence understanding the new rules is inevitable.

Among the presenters such prominent persons were welcome at various conference venues like Mr. Tamás Fellegi, former minister responsible for the Ministry of National Development, Nóra Nógrádi, campaign coordinator of the Together Party (Együtt Párt), Andreas Carnheimer, delegate of the Sigeman and Co. Law firm (based in Malmö), and last, but not least Péter Nógrádi, founder of the event hosting Nógrádi Law Office.

It was our tremendous honour to have the chance to hold the two-day long Conference, it proved to be a very pleasant, successful and effective ELG meeting.
